Fun paint!
Now that I finished the cockpit benches nonskid, I get to paint the footwell. This is pretty fun thing because I decided to paint it red. I want the boat to be back hulled, beige deck with red trim color (namely the toe rails). But I also thought that painting the footwell red would break up the area and give it lots more dimension. I like the idea of the well being a darker pit, creating a real aesthetic pull to the center.
So, now I've started. My god, what have I done?!
And now I've gone and painted myself into a corner. Remember that the nonskid on the bench tops is still soft... so finishing the footwell involved reaching in from outside the coaming.
I am planning on putting the second coat in tonight. And then once I pull the tape and put in the teak grating at the bottom of the well, it's going to look bitchin'!
